Daniel Taub is an international lawyer, writer, and an Israeli diplomat. He served as the ambassador of Israel to the United Kingdom in the period of 2011 to 2015. He was born and raised in the United Kingdom. Daniel Taub got his secondary education at the Haberdashers’ Aske’s Boys’ School in Hertfordshire. He later joined the Oxford University in London and also studied at Harvard University.
In 1989, Daniel Taub moved to Israel where he served as a medic in combat for the Israel Defense Forces. He also served as an army reserve officer in the Israel Defense Forces International law division.
Daniel Taub also worked writing speeches for President Chaim Herzog after his arrival in Israel. In 1991, Taub joined the Foreign Ministry of Israel. In 2011 when he met the queen to present his credentials, Taub was dressed in a morning tailcoat, striped trousers, and well-shined black shoes. He completed his look with his kippah on his neatly-cut grey hair. This was a definite and firm statement that though he was born in the U.K, his practices and beliefs as an Orthodox Jew would be upheld.
Though Taub had given up his British citizenship, he was privileged to represent Israel in a country that gave his family and his people great opportunity and chance. He was enthusiastic in bringing the two nations closer together.
In his tenure as ambassador trade relations between Israel and the United Kingdom doubled. There has also been increased academic, business and cultural links between Israel and the U.K. This was according to a statement released by the embassy of Israel.
At the British Israeli Business Awards, the British Secretary of State for Business, Innovation, and Skills Sajid Javid stated that it was a “golden era” for total trade between the two countries. According to Israel-Britain Chamber of Commerce, it was reported that over 300 Israeli businesses had been set up in the U.K. The annual bilateral trade was quoted to be over $5.5 billion. In 2014, Daniel Taub took a step and visited Bradford West after its representative to the parliament declared the constituency an “Israel free zone.” Taub visited the city after invitations from the local community. He used his visit to hold meetings with faith leaders, councilors, and other groups.
Daniel Taub stated that Bradford is a city that represents a model of a society with different opinions, culture, faith, and attitudes. Through cooperation and people working together a lot has been achieved for Bradford and Taub admires and champions for this type of relations.
